See www.projectmf.org for more info. Demo of a bluebox based on the 12F683 PIC microcontroller. A Bluebox was a hacker/phreaker tool of the 60's-70's that used a set of tones to simulate Bell's internal control tones and seize control of the telephone network. These tones were similar to touch-tone tones, but different frequencies. The box can be used to control a simulation of the old network running on an Asterisk PBX system under Linux. Dial 630-485-2995 for more info.

Re-visited my home Cisco Lab rack. 851W Router, 1760 Router, Two 2950 Switches, 3550 PoE Switch, SMC Switch and 2 7960 Phones all in a small rack made for home lab use. My previous jobs had me working with Cisco gear for many years and my home gear gathered dust. Also used an older camera for the video, so that is why the video is a bit grainy and dark. Glad I could still configure everything and get the phones to register. My previous employer was pushing the Cisco training, but then we had an ADD/ADHD/Autistic? network geek that always accused everyone else of screwing things up, even if it was only him making changes. So I bought my own equipment to learn, and now my current employer reaps the benefits. Used Cisco gear can be used for training or actual small business use. As long as y...

Please join us Thursday October 23 for a demonstration and overview of Asterisk, a Free Software implementation of a telephone switch. What is a switch? Well, it's the essential core of a phone company. It's also what lets you dial 42 on your phone at work and be connected to the person who knows everything. Wait, that's you? Paul Charles Leddy will be guiding us through a technical overview of how Asterisk works, rather than an overview of how to use it. This talk will be of interest to anyone interested in how a PBX works, as well as those interested in building their own Asterisk PBX. We'll start with a look at the various things Asterisk does, and work our way through setting up extensions, VoIP, SIP, IAX, and call routing.
